Community Service 2010

Last year's pledge to make a positive impact in our local community was a tremedous success. We want to continue giving back in 2010 with more service to various organizations and causes. The plan is to contribute to at least one cause each month for the entire year.

Service Projects

Habitat for Humanity

Once again, TIC Gums employees rolled up their sleeves and helped the Habitat for Humanity organization with numerous tasks at a house in Aberdeen, MD. Some of the jobs included installing a washer and dryer, caulking around the bathroom, setting up a refrigerator and stove, painting, digging a ditch, and laying PVC pipe to serve as a drain for the central A/C.

Monthly Collections

July - Villa Maria school

TIC Gums employees brought in various games, toys, puzzles, and sporting equipment for students with learning disabilities. The company collected over 250 items for the school.

August - School supplies

Employees at TIC Gums collected school supplies during the month of August to benefit needy children in Harford County through Ready2Learn. This program is part of Mason Dixon Community Services and distributes donated school supplies to needy students through teachers. Between the Belcamp and White Marsh locations, TIC Gums employees collected over $1000 worth of school supplies. The donated items will benefit more than 5000 deserving students in Harford County.

September - Harford County Humane Society

Each year, over four thousand homeless, stray, and abandoned pets end up in animal shelters in need of care. This month TIC Gums employees are collecting a variety of supplies to donate to the Harford County Humane Society. These supplies include food, grooming equipment, cleaning materials, and toys for dogs, cats, and other small pets.

November - Food drive

This month’s community service drive is two fold. First, with the Holidays just around the corner, we will be collecting non perishable food items. Second, we will be collecting baked goods on November 30th. All food items and baked goods collected will be delivered to Moveable Feast on November 30th.

Moveable Feast is an organization dedicated to providing nutritional services to people who have or had HIV/AIDS and Breast Cancer. They serve families in Baltimore City and 13 MD counties with daily, home delivered meals for the week. The meals are not only for the sick individual but also for their spouse, children, and care givers. It probably gives them great comfort in knowing that the nutritional health of their families is one less thing they have to worry about in such a trying time.
