GGGB: Girl Scout Cookies Inspire Dessert Creations

A few years ago, a co-worker brought in homemade ‘dirt’ dessert made with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. It was another example of her tasty kitchen creations but I never gave it a second thought after that day.

I was surprised to hear a segment on NPR’s “All Thing Considered” that covered recipes made with Girl Scout cookies. It turns out that using the cookies as ingredients in other dishes is such a hot topic that the Girl Scouts have devoted a section of their web site to recipes. And the recipes aren’t just limited to desserts; there are recipes for fried shrimp made with Samoas® and peanut Thai chicken made with Do-Si-Does.

And for those with more refined tastes and advanced cooking skills, the Girl Scout site even has recipes from restaurant chefs. YUMmmm……Girl Scout cookies – there’s a flavor for everyone!
