GGGB: Spicy watermelon: isn’t that an oxymoron?

I ran across a blog post by a couple embarking on an adventure to travel the world .They’ve spent the last few weeks in Mexico and their posts cover topics ranging from sightseeing trips to the Mayan ruins at Tulum to an account of the root canal one of the travelers endured in Cancun because all the dentists in NY were either booked or out of her price range.

photo_fkbdisneyUsing hot sauce and chili powder in Mexican foods is hardly a new trend but these bloggers were surprised to learn the extent to which spicy flavorings were added to snacks from street vendors. They found lime, salt, and chili powder frequently added to fruits like mango, pineapple, and watermelon. Spicy watermelon? I’m not sure how that could taste good but I’ll be sure to try it when in a few weeks when watermelon is in season here in Maryland.
