We had a slow start to our community service this year but we are back on track. We had a small group participate in the Harford County Relay for Life at Patterson Mill High school, May 21st-22nd.

Starting in July, we started our monthly collections. Our first collection was for for the local Villa Maria school who works with students with emotional, learning, and multiple disabilities. The school has a program to reward positive behaviors and need toys, sporting equipment, games, puzzles, etc., for that program. I am proud to announce that we collected over 250 items for the program plus almost 200 gently used books for classroom and library use. photo_villamariaFour members of the Community Service Committee, Nicole Siemek, Becky Kurek, Rebecca Fabyan, and Dawn Crum, presented the items to Rick Frank, principal, and his staff earlier this week to an emotional reception -- That is what community service is all about!

Upcoming collections and events:

August: Collect school supplies for underprivileged students
September: Collect pet supplies for our local shelter(s)
                  Habitat for Humanity
October: Collect non-perishable food items for our local food bank
Team Gum Guru will walk at the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure

We are just getting started - Stay Tuned!
