TIC Gums has a new addition to its collection of state-of-the-art processing machinery. The Mathis Labcoater LTE-SM molds, sets, and dries sheets of film. These edible films are used in many applications, such as breath strips and glitter sprinkles for ice cream. They can also be found in OTC pharmaceuticals and smokeless tobacco products. The machine can be set at different temperatures and depths to affect the film’s thickness for a variety of uses.

All gums form films to varying degrees. Depending on the application, certain gums, or combinations of these gums, will produce different consistencies and different rates of film dissolving. Though it may not always be obvious, films are all around us and gums are the key component that stabilizes them.
