Donna Klockeman’s role at TIC Gums reflects the growing importance of gums in dairy products. As a Dairy Food Scientist, Klockeman helps customers solve formulation challenges and develop a wide range of products.

Klockeman joined TIC Gums in June 2008 as part of the company’s applications team in research and development. In addition to finding solutions to customers’ issues, she works closely with the applications team at TIC Gums, determining how gums and gum blends perform in finished products, including but not limited to dairy foods and beverages.

Her days, she says, are full of customer related activities. “I am working at the bench in the lab, in the pilot plant, on the computer in my office, and on the phone,” Klockeman explains Klockeman brings to TIC Gums a strong understanding of the dairy industry.

Prior to joining TIC Gums, she served as research scientist on the innovation team at Wells’ Dairy in LeMars, Iowa, which produces the line of Blue Bunny branded dairy products and desserts. Her educational background also makes Klockeman well suited for the TIC Gums
environment of science-based, marketinfluenced and customer-driven innovation. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science degree in Botany from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in Food Science and Technology from the University of Georgia.

A Midwest native, Klockeman enjoys traveling and quilt-making, and devotes her talent and time to several charities.Visitors to her office at TIC Gums are quick to note her collection of fun and eclectic assortment of cow figures. “Being a dairy scientist, I think it fits,” she says with a laugh.
